SAFARI — A wealthy dentist who killed his wife on an African safari to collect their life insurance benefit has been given a life term and ordered to pay a $15 million fine. In October of 2016, Larry Rudolph murdered his wife, Bianca, when they were on a trip to Kafue National Park in Zambia so that Bianca could finally shoot a leopard. The 67-year-old dentist fatally shot his wife before concealing the weapon in its soft case to make it appear as though she had shot herself in the back while they were preparing to return to the United States. To his longtime lover Lori Milliron, he later confessed, “I killed my f***ing wife for you.”
After his wife died, Rudolph allegedly cashed in over $5 million in insurance policies so he and his lover could retire in style. Rudolph, 67, was given a life sentence for murder and mail fraud on Monday in a federal court in Denver. Milliron, 65, was found guilty of obstruction of justice and accessory to murder in June and given a 17-year prison term. Both have stated their intent to appeal their respective convictions.
The dentist’s wife died in 2016, and he has always maintained his innocence. He first told Zambian officials that he was in the bathroom when his wife shot herself while packing a shotgun before they left for the United States. Local authorities determined that Bianca Rudolph’s death was accidental, and subsequent inquiries by insurance companies confirmed this finding. Five years and an FBI investigation later, the former dentist was arrested for her murder. Rudolph allegedly told Milliron, “I killed my f*****g wife for you!” after an argument at a Phoenix steakhouse in 2020, according to the barman who reported the incident to police.
