Cattory McBride Obituary, Death; – A 20-year-old individual is currently in custody following a fatal shooting that occurred in Augusta on Tuesday. According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Trayvone David Cummings, aged 20, voluntarily surrendered at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on Friday.
The sheriff’s office has indicated that Damien Key, 19, remains at large in connection with the homicide. Authorities have advised that Key should be regarded as armed and dangerous. He is described as standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 125 pounds.
Key has black hair and brown eyes, and he is known to frequent the Harrisburg neighborhood near Walker Street. The victim has been identified as Cattory McBride, 29, of Augusta, as confirmed by Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen.
The sheriff’s office reported that at around 1:27 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1900 block of Walker Street in response to the shooting incident. Walker Street is located adjacent to Lamar-Milledge Elementary School. Upon arrival, officials discovered McBride, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
McBride was transported to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries, according to officials. The Richmond County School System stated that the incident took place off school property, and the school was promptly secured once administrators were informed.
