Zarria Courtney McDade Obituary, Death; – On January 10, at approximately 7:15 a.m., a patrol officer from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office was driving along Smallwood Drive West, near St. Patrick’s Drive in Waldorf, when he noticed a body lying in the road on the eastbound side.
The officer halted his vehicle, approached the individual, and found that she was unconscious and not breathing. He promptly began administering CPR until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived. Upon their arrival, EMS pronounced the victim deceased. Officers from the Traffic Operations Unit are currently investigating the incident as a hit-and-run, with detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division also responding to the scene.
The victim exhibited injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle; however, there are no known witnesses, and no 9-1-1 calls were made regarding the incident. Based on further information, authorities believe the victim was hit sometime between 6 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The victim has been identified as Zarria Courtney McDade, a 21-year-old resident of Waldorf.
