GUILDERLAND — Following allegations of a stabbing that took place on August 20 at approximately 10 a.m., there was a significant police presence at 1802 Brandywine Parkway in Guilderland.
Monique Beckett, who is 52 years old, and a child who is thirteen years old were both injured, according to the Guilderland Police Department. Both victims required medical treatment.
Additionally, Kahlee Hackworth, who is 26 years old, has been brought into prison as a suspect. According to tenants who spoke with NEWS10, they were able to hear others within the building yelling for assistance before the cops came.
Through their investigation, the police were able to determine that the person believed to be responsible for the act was still present at the scene.
After then, there was a standoff, during which law enforcement officers secured the area and evacuated apartments that were nearby. The following procedures were followed out by the State Police Emergency Response Team. “Entry into the flat was successfully accomplished with the assistance of their robot. “We were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody without any additional complications,” explained Captain Eric Batchelder of the Guilderland Police Department.
At approximately four in the afternoon, everything came to a head. The police report that Hackworth did not sustain any injuries that were life-threatening and was also sent to the Albany Medical Center Hospital along with the victims. Hackworth is charged with:
- Second-degree attempted murder
- Second-degree assault (two counts)
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
On Sunday, emergency medical services from the Town of Guilderland and those from the University at Albany also responded to the area.
Following his arraignment in the Guilderland Town judicial, Hackworth was sent to the Albany County Correctional Facility to await the outcome of any additional judicial proceedings.
