Dr Marcus Gaddis Obituary, Death; – A professor from Troy University tragically passed away on Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle on Honeysuckle Road in Dothan.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd confirmed the deceased as 79-year-old Dr. Marcus Gaddis, a resident of Dothan. It remains uncertain whether Dr. Gaddis was actively teaching at the university or had retired.
According to Dothan Police spokesperson Lt. Scott Owens, the driver of the vehicle involved had left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Witnesses described the vehicle as potentially being a dark-colored pickup truck. Coroner Byrd indicated that bystanders reported Dr. Gaddis may have paused to pick up an item from the roadway, possibly from his own vehicle, at which point he was struck by another vehicle traveling along Honeysuckle Road.
Authorities conducted an extensive investigation at the scene, resulting in the closure of the road to all traffic for several hours.
