The new owners of Trattoria have submitted a request to have the restaurant’s liquor license transferred to them. This week, Grosse Pointe Woods hosted a public hearing in order to gather feedback on the matter from members of the neighborhood.
On May 1st, the city council is scheduled to vote on whether or not to give Pendy’s liquor license a provisional approval. In the event that it is approved at that location, the Michigan Liquor Control Commission will make the ultimate decision regarding the proposed transfer at a later time that has not yet been decided. Between the years of 2004 and 2018, David and Susan Pendy served as directors, managers, and chief operating officers at a number of different county clubs in the states of Michigan, Maryland, and Missouri.
David Pendy was a co-owner of the Hill Seafood & Chophouse in Grosse Pointe Farms for many years. The restaurant first opened its doors in the year 2000 and was awarded the title of Restaurant of the Year by both Hour Magazine and The Detroit Free Press the following year.
According to DBusiness Magazine, a new ownership group took over the chophouse in 2020 and a few months later replaced it with The Bronze Door. In March of 2022, the husband and wife team signed a leasing deal with the Couvreur Family Limited Partnership for a period of five years. According to the terms of the contract, the leasing agreement will become effective if and when the state liquor board gives its blessing to the transfer of the license.
