Michael Foster Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost his life in Decatur after being struck by a sport utility vehicle on Friday night has been identified as Michael Foster.
The 48-year-old resident of Decatur sustained fatal injuries while walking on the roadway in the vicinity of the 700 block of South Side Drive at approximately 10:50 p.m. Macon County Coroner Michael Burkham confirmed Foster’s identity on Monday, stating that he was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
Burkham noted that Illinois law mandates a toxicology analysis of the victim’s blood, and he is currently awaiting those results. However, he informed the Herald & Review that the circumstances surrounding the incident suggest it will likely be classified as an accidental death.
The Decatur Police Department is conducting an investigation into the matter, with their headquarters located near the site of the collision. Authorities have indicated that there is no evidence to suggest that the 64-year-old Decatur man operating the SUV was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
