Everett Carter Obituary, Death;- A Public Works employee from Jackson County, Missouri, tragically lost his life on Sunday while engaged in snow removal efforts during the recent winter storm.
County officials reported that 61-year-old Everett Carter was fatally injured while working in Blue Summit on Sunday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report indicates that Carter had just exited a dump truck on Ashland Avenue, located just north of 20th Street, when the vehicle began to slide on the icy road, colliding with Carter and a parked car. Carter had dedicated 40 years to the county, with the last eight years focused on public works.
“This is a devastating loss for our entire Jackson County family,” stated County Executive Frank White Jr. “Everett Carter devoted four decades of his life to serving our community with pride and professionalism. We will always be thankful for his contributions and will profoundly miss his presence. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this extremely challenging time.”
County officials confirmed that Jackson County is collaborating with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as they investigate the circumstances surrounding Carter’s death.
In the aftermath of the incident, all county snow removal crews were temporarily suspended to allow staff to process the tragedy and ensure their emotional well-being. Snow plowing operations resumed at 7 a.m. on Monday.
