Ross Lewis,Kyle Arnold Obituary, Death; – A man from northeast Nebraska, charged in relation to a fatal crash in Omaha that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, is scheduled for sentencing on Monday. Maison King, 26, from Oakland, entered a “no contest” plea to two counts of motor vehicle homicide and one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury in November 2024.
His court appearance is set for 1:30 p.m. on Monday. He faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years for each homicide charge and up to 3 years, or a fine of $10,000, or both, for the DUI charge.
The incident occurred on I-80 near the 24th Street exit in April 2024. An arrest affidavit indicates that King was driving a 2021 Kia Sportage in the wrong direction when he collided nearly head-on with a 2017 Ford Fusion. Ross Lewis, a 26-year-old back-seat passenger in the Ford from Wilber, Nebraska, was pronounced dead at the scene; police records indicate he was not wearing a seat belt.
Kyle Arnold, the 30-year-old driver of the ride-service vehicle from Omaha, succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital. According to the Omaha Police Department report, he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Another back-seat passenger in the Ford, a 24-year-old woman from Shenandoah, Iowa, sustained life-threatening abdominal injuries. The OPD report notes that she was not wearing a seat belt. A third occupant, a 29-year-old man from Kearney, who was seated in the front and wearing his seat belt, suffered serious chest injuries.
King was the sole occupant of the Kia and was also hospitalized with serious back injuries. A blood test revealed his blood alcohol concentration was .175, which is more than twice the legal limit. Following his court appearance, his bond was set at $50,000.
