J Kavien Fallen Obituary, Death; – A family in Virginia is striving to preserve the memory of a 14-year-old student-athlete who tragically lost his life in a car accident, which also left his older brother with severe injuries.
J’Kavien Fallen, a student at George Washington High School, was socializing with friends on December 26 when the vehicle he was in veered off the road and overturned in Halifax County, Virginia. The young teenager, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car. Authorities declared him deceased at the scene, according to WDBJ.
His mother, Tikia Fallen, is devastated by the untimely death of her son. She described him as a unique individual, full of energy and passion for sports. “He had no desire to be like anybody else. He was definitely his own person. A jumping jelly bean. But he took his energy and put it in the field, on the court, on the track. My big, gentle giant,” she expressed.
J’Kavien’s 18-year-old brother was also present in the vehicle during the incident. He suffered significant injuries and is currently recuperating at Duke Hospital in North Carolina. “He ended up with a fractured spine. His nose was fractured, and as of now, he has no movement below his waist,” Fallen reported.
Fallen emphasized the importance of seat belt usage in light of her son’s passing. “Pretty sure they got in that vehicle not knowing things would go [the way] they would because they were boys, teenage boys, just wanting to ride and have fun,” she remarked.
J’Kavien’s coach, Quincey Brooks, fondly remembers him as an exceptional athlete who shone both in sports and in his character. “He was a great kid. Besides his athletic ability, he was humble. He was respectful. Not only respected by his coaches but respected by his teachers and his peers,” Brooks stated.
Brooks also noted J’Kavien’s achievements in track, football, and basketball. “He won the district in all three of those sports last year as an 8th grader and was a key component on the JV football team that won the Piedmont district this year. He was just an awesome kid,” Brooks added.
