Jarcoby Hopson Obituary, Death; – The individual allegedly responsible for fatally stabbing his coworker at the Kroger Distribution Center on Thursday has been named.
Anderson Todd, 55, has been apprehended and charged with Second Degree Murder in connection with the incident. Reports indicate that authorities received a call shortly before 9 a.m. after Jarcoby Hopson, 38, was discovered in the warehouse with multiple stab wounds to his chest, leg, and arm.
A witness at the scene informed police that he overheard a heated argument between the two men prior to the stabbing. A family member of Hopson conveyed to WREG that the dispute was related to football.
Witnesses assert that Hopson approached Todd and suggested they move to a section of the warehouse without surveillance cameras to engage in a fight, but Todd reportedly declined. Subsequently, Hopson pulled Todd’s skull cap over his face, obscuring his vision, which escalated the confrontation into a physical altercation.
When a bystander attempted to intervene, Hopson retreated and collapsed on the floor. Reports indicate that Todd then entered the break room and awaited the arrival of law enforcement. Hopson was declared dead at the scene. Kroger issued a statement on Thursday evening addressing the incident.
“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of an associate and the tragic event that transpired at the Memphis distribution center. We have reached out to the associate’s family and extend our condolences to all those affected by this heartbreaking loss. Counseling services for our associates at the distribution center have been implemented.” Todd’s bond has yet to be established, and he is set to appear in court on Monday morning.
