Samantha Haun Obituary, Death;- A woman from Apple Valley has tragically lost her life following a head-on collision with an alleged intoxicated driver traveling in the wrong direction. The deadly incident occurred at 8 p.m. on Monday along Highway 18, east of Quinnault Road, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
According to officials, 30-year-old Samantha Haun was driving westbound on Highway 18 when a blue 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander, operated by a driver heading east in the westbound lanes, struck her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, identified as 45-year-old Vicente Zuniga-Medina, sustained a broken foot and was transported to the hospital, as stated by the Sheriff’s Office. He has been charged with Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated with Gross Negligence and is currently held at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto.
Authorities reported that his Blood Alcohol Concentration was .22%, which is nearly three times the legal limit. Westbound Highway 18 from Central Road to Quinnault Road was closed for approximately five hours to facilitate the investigation.
