Robert Elsmore Obituary, Death; – A driver fatally struck a man from Jupiter while he was crossing the street in Boynton Beach on Saturday morning.
According to investigators, 60-year-old Robert Elsmore was pushing an empty wheelchair southbound near the center line of Old Congress Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. when he was hit from behind by a 2000 Honda Odyssey.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that the collision propelled both the wheelchair and Elsmore, who was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The Honda then fled the scene.
Authorities have identified 54-year-old Jesus Rene Roa as a suspect in the hit-and-run incident, although no criminal charges had been filed as of Sunday morning. Court records from the county reveal that Roa, a resident of Atlantis, has a two-decade history of traffic violations, including speeding and driving without a valid license.
