Jason Craig California Obituary, Death:- It is with great sadness that we announce the off-duty passing of Fire Captain Jason Craig, a valued member of South Ops – Riverside. His loss is a profound one for our department and the wider firefighting community.
Jason began his distinguished career with CAL FIRE in 2004 as a Firefighter I in the San Bernardino Unit. Over the years, his unwavering dedication and exceptional service propelled him through the ranks in the Riverside Unit, where he held roles as Firefighter II-Paramedic, Engineer-Paramedic, and ultimately Fire Captain-Paramedic.
In 2018, he joined South Ops Riverside as a Fire Captain in the Intel program. Over the past six years, Jason made significant contributions to the statewide Intel program, serving on the Report on Conditions Cadre, the Intel Policy and Procedure Cadre, and as an Intel Duty Officer. His expertise, leadership, and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the department.
Beyond his operational roles, Jason devoted over 12 years to the CAL FIRE Local 2881 Honor Guard, where he served with pride as the South Area Leader. His dedication to honoring his fellow firefighters and their families exemplified his selflessness and commitment to service.
Captain Craig is survived by his loving parents and his daughter, Mackenzie. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the work he did to advance our department and support his colleagues. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As a mark of respect, flags have been authorized to fly at half-staff at the Southern Region offices in Riverside and Fresno. Staff in these locations are also authorized to shroud their badges until sunset on the day of Jason’s memorial service.
