With heavy hearts, the Mansfield University community is mourning the loss of Saramae Radel, a cherished former field hockey player and dedicated student leader. Saramae passed away following a medical event earlier this week, as announced by the Mansfield Mountaineers on their Facebook page.
Saramae, a proud member of the Mountaineers from 2019 to 2023, left an indelible mark both on and off the field. Serving as team captain for three seasons, her leadership and talent earned her all-conference honors. Beyond her athletic achievements, Saramae demonstrated her commitment to her peers and university through her role as the student-athletic representative for the Student Government Association.
A native of Selinsgrove, PA, Saramae graduated in 2023 with a degree in Business Administration, embodying the values of dedication and excellence that Mansfield University stands for.
A Community Gathers to Honor Saramae
On Saturday evening, friends and loved ones joined together at Evangelical Hospital for a Hero Walk to honor Saramae and bring solace to her family. In an act of extraordinary compassion, Saramae’s decision to become an organ donor will save lives, ensuring her legacy of kindness and generosity endures.
Celebration of Life and Memorial Services
Saramae’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, December 14, at Hummels Church in Middleburg, PA. A viewing will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. Attendees are invited to stay for a meal to honor her memory and share in the love she brought to those around her.
