Sally Vernon Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost her life in a fire in Gastonia was identified on Monday. The incident occurred at a residence on Grier Street at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, December 8. Emergency personnel successfully rescued four individuals from the home; however, 77-year-old Sally Vernon tragically perished at the scene.
Both a firefighter and a police officer sustained injuries but are anticipated to recover fully. The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed, although the Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services indicated that it seems to be accidental. The fire resulted in damages estimated at around $80,000.
