Mike Miske, the notorious crime boss linked to a range of criminal activities in Hawaii, has been found dead in what authorities are calling an apparent suicide. Miske, 50, was discovered at the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu while awaiting his sentencing, after being convicted earlier this year of over a dozen charges, including murder.
The charges against Miske stemmed from his involvement in a violent criminal enterprise that spanned several years. He was found guilty of the 2016 murder of Johnathan Fraser, as well as conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, kidnapping, attempted murder, and obstruction of justice. His convictions were the result of a sweeping investigation into a network of illegal activities including racketeering and the use of chemical weapons. Miske was scheduled to be sentenced in January, but his death leaves many questions unanswered.
Miske had been incarcerated for nearly four years, following his arrest in connection with the disappearance of Fraser. His demise in jail is the latest twist in the dramatic downfall of a man who once ruled Hawaii’s criminal underworld. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
