Robert Corbett Erie PA Death:- The Erie County Coroner has identified the victim of a tragic SUV crash in Millcreek as 38-year-old Robert Corbett, a Millcreek resident. The accident occurred early Sunday morning around 2:30 a.m., when Corbett’s vehicle crashed into a home at the corner of Cherry Street and West Gore Road.
The SUV entered the house at high speed, plowing through the living room and into the kitchen before catching fire. The coroner, Lyell Cook, is awaiting toxicology results to determine the exact cause of death.
Millcreek Police Chief Carter Mook shared details of the crash, highlighting the severity of the incident. Fortunately, the two homeowners and their dog were able to escape unharmed. Chief Mook credited the layout of the house for the occupants’ safe exit, stating, “The staircase emptied at the front of the house, allowing them to avoid the flames.
It’s a tragic situation for all involved, but it could have been much worse.” Remarkably, this is not the first time the home has been struck by a vehicle. Chief Mook revealed, “In my 30-year career, I recall two fatal accidents at this location. The house has been hit on at least one other occasion recorded in our files.”
Given the history of accidents at this intersection, which belongs to the jurisdiction of the city of Erie, Chief Mook is advocating for an engineering study to assess and improve the safety of the area. This recommendation underscores the need for preventative measures to address potential hazards at this problematic location.
