A popular CT brewery will close next month. Management says the decision was ‘incredibly hard’

Almost Famous Brewing Company in East Granby is the latest Connecticut brewery to announce its closing.

Management said the business it will close its doors for good on Dec. 28, according to a social media post.

“After lengthy deliberation and reflection, we will be closing our doors with the last day of operations being Dec. 28, 2025. We want to thank each one of you for making our journey exciting and rewarding,” the brewery said.

The brewery, located at 17 Kripes Road in East Granby, was opened by Chip Glanovsky and Jim Wilfinger in 2022 and featured live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

“Please join us as we will continue as usual with our food trucks, music and all calendar events through the end of the year,” the brewery said. “If you booked a private event, we will honor your reservation. If you have any questions regarding your reservation, please call us. We continue to explore different ideas and options for the brewery but can’t guarantee where it will take us. We have many things to consider and evaluate with this incredibly hard decision.”

News of the brewery’s closing garnered hundreds of comments on social media.

“This is really sad. One of our favorite places to play. Best wishes to all,” one person posted.

“Tough news to take, and an even more difficult decision to make. Thank you for the great memories,” another added.

“We’ll be sorry to see you guys go! What a great place to play and gather with friends,” yet another said.

The brewery said it hopes that customers will come to visit before the business closes for good.

“We will provide you with updates as we work our way through this difficult process,” the brewery said. “Our dedicated, supportive and amazing staff look forward to being in your company and serving you throughout our final weeks. Please join us for a final cheers. We met so many amazing people and made many new friends along this ride. We thank you all for your friendship, understanding and support.”

Another commenter said, “as a former brewer and beer guru, this is terrible news for the industry.

“There is always a story behind these difficult decisions and I respect that. I just hope the decision was not based on Connecticut’s incredibly difficult business climate for breweries and the taxes behind it. My wife and I have always enjoyed the beers and bands. My best of luck to you all,” the wrote.

Others were simply heartbroken.

“Oh man, we love you guys, and love coming to the brewery. You are truly the nicest people and we always have such a great time there. I’m going to miss your Friday night car shows in the summer, and all the great bands you have. And I can’t forget the great beer I’m heartbroken for you and all of us who love Almost Famous Brewery – I’m sure you have made so many great memories over the years. I wish you luck with all of your decisions and future endeavors. We’ll be thinking positive thoughts for you, and we’ll definitely see you soon,” a customer shared.
