A tragic single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 32-year-old Merrill man early Wednesday morning in the town of Scott, Lincoln County. Authorities have identified the deceased as Ryan P. Adams, who was driving the utility terrain vehicle (UTV) when it rolled over, leaving his passenger critically injured.
The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Scott Road, just south of Heldt Street. According to reports from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 caller alerted emergency responders to the scene. Upon arrival, responders found the UTV overturned in a ditch after what appeared to be a high-speed loss of control.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Adams was traveling southbound when he veered off the roadway, causing the UTV to leave the pavement and roll over. The force of the accident resulted in Adams’ death at the scene, while his passenger, a 40-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed, was ejected from the vehicle. The passenger suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by Medivac Air 2 to a nearby hospital for emergency care.
