Dave McHugh, a resident of Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, and an award winning recording and touring artist has sadly passed away. He was confirmed dead in a social media statement that says “My heart hurts a little tonight. Hearing the news about David McHugh. Wilf and I loved to head to any party’s where Dave was playing and he even played at our own wedding.”

Dave McHugh was a Canadian singer-songwriter who was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador. With the rare airplane or ferry excursion to other regions of Atlantic Canada to mix things up, he has performed on every square inch of his native province. Dave was a popular attraction at business gatherings, bar concerts, and festivals.
Dave, who has opened for the well-known band Great Big Sea twice, keeps good company and performs a vibrant mix of original songs and covers, mostly in rock and country terrain. Dave was an entertainer, but there were many people who sang and played. He is funny, laid-back, and sincere, and he makes everyone happy.

He recently sold two bars in his native province, and now he’s focused on performing live once more, without worrying about whether he filled the beer cooler. He graduated from Dale Carnegie Training in Newfoundland in 2016 and Cabrini High School in Curling, Newfoundland, in 1985.
From Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, he was a well-liked guitarist. Having performed professionally for more than 35 years, Dave is a seasoned member of the club, festival, and corporate communities. A fantastic musical experience is created by his dynamic stage presence and wide range of cover tunes, which include pop, rock, country, and traditional melodies.
