Lisa Johnson Obituary, Death Cause – After a relatively short battle with illness, Lisa Jeanne Johnson, age 56, left this life and entered the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on July 31, 2023, at her home in Knoxville, Tennessee. She had been sick for only a few weeks. Her soft and compassionate nature affected the lives of many individuals, and she made their lives better as a result.
Lisa was born in Pittsburgh, but she moved to Northbrook, Illinois, when she was a toddler. After that, the family moved to Columbus, Ohio, and she attended Upper Arlington High School there until she graduated in 1985. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Indiana University in 1989 after completing her studies there.
After receiving her degree, Lisa relocated to New York City and found a job in marketing at Hurst Publications. She eventually went on to work for ABC Television. Her life in the city was full of adventure and vitality, and she shared it with a large number of friends, one of whom was Sean Preiss, whom she wed in 1995. After marrying her husband, she relocated to Hartford, Connecticut, where she eventually had two sons: Ryan and Nicholas. During her time in Hartford, Lisa was employed by both the Arthritis Foundation and the CowParade, both of which she had previously been instrumental in establishing in New York City.
The family made the journey to Knoxville, Tennessee, in the year 2004. She was a very committed mother to her sons, often making time at home for their friends and encouraging them to participate in as many sports as possible. The lake house provided the family with many joyful memories, including hours spent waterskiing, tubing, and hosting other members of the family and their friends. Lisa was a fantastic hostess who constantly went out of her way to ensure that everyone had a good time, was well fed, and was aware that they were welcome.
Lisa was an employee with TIS Insurance Services in Knoxville, and she will be missed by a large number of her close co-workers there.
Lisa has always been recognized for the extraordinary athletic ability she possesses. She participated in several extracurricular activities during her time in high school, including playing tennis, being a cheerleader, and spending countless hours on the trampoline in her backyard and skiing with her family on vacation.
Lisa took up running and eventually ran in the Big Sur Marathon. She became a dedicated runner. After moving to Knoxville, Lisa joined a hiking club as well as a pickleball organization in the area. Her passion for athletics helped her cultivate many deep and lasting connections over the years.
