The 52-year-old lady who died in a Laureldale fire has been identified by the Berks County Coroner’s Office. George Holmes of the coroner’s office said Amy L. Valentine died in the fire on Friday, November 1. Tragically, she was unable to flee the fire that broke out in her apartment building on the morning of November 1st, which resulted in her premature death. Her funeral plans and obituary will be announced by her at a later date.
According to the coroner’s office, smoke inhalation and thermal burns were identified as the cause of death. It was decided that the death was an accident. Just after 7 a.m. on November 1, the coroner’s office reported that they were called to the site of a house fire in the 3400 block of Kutztown Road.
The first emergency dispatches reported an entrapped dwelling on fire. According to firefighters, a man attempted to save some pets by returning to the flaming house.
A GoFundMe has been organized by her daughter, Lexi Shuey. In her words, she said the following; “…On the morning of November 1st, a fire broke out in her apartment building, and tragically, she was unable to escape, leading to her untimely death.
Like many, my mom and I experienced our share of ups and downs over the years. If I could change anything, it would be to leave the past behind and keep moving forward. I wouldn’t wish this heartache on anyone. My mom didn’t deserve what happened to her, and no one should have to endure the pain of knowing their loved one faced such a terrifying end…”
