Donna Vaughn Obituary, Death Cause – On August 1, 2023, at the age of 76, Donna Murphy Vaughan, who resided in Virginia Beach, passed away in a calm and quiet manner at home, surrounded by her loved ones. On April 7th, 1947, she was brought into this world by her parents, Donald and Joan Murphy, in Auburn, New York. In a family with ten kids, Donna was the eldest. Donna was a devoted follower of Christ who had a genuine heart for serving others.
She was an important part of our community and played an important role in the formation of the lives of a great number of young people. In addition to being a longstanding member of Charity United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for more than three decades, Donna served as a leader in the Virginia Beach 4-H Livestock Club. After more than four decades of devoted service, Donna received the City Manager’s Award from the Finance Department of the City of Virginia Beach, where she worked.
In addition, she was presented with a Friend of Agriculture Award while she was still working there. Donna has since retired from that position. The number of people whose lives she changed is incalculable. Left to cherish her memory are her children Robert (Jennifer), William (Bernadette), James (Bethany) and Sarah Myers; nine grandchildren Autumn (Emma), Missouri, Molly, Reagan, Robert, Olivia, Junior, Evan, and Stella, one great-grandchild, Nathan, and six of her siblings;
Sharon Whitehorn (Rick), Patrick Murphy (Thu), Colleen Goldsberry (Mike), Cathleen Myers, Donald Murphy, and Jeffrey Murphy (Sissie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and three siblings, Dennis Murphy (who was married to Dorothy), Maureen Greene (who was married to Johnny), and Christopher Murphy all passed away before she was born. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has been there for our family at this challenging time by sharing food, flowers, time, love, and prayers.
We are very grateful to each and every one of you. We would like to express our gratitude to Donna’s nieces Melinda, Kellye, and Whitney, as well as their families, and to her nephew Mark, for the extraordinary amount of love and support they have given us.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of the Deceased will be conducted at Charity United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be donated to the Virginia Beach 4-H Livestock Club with Donna M. Vaughan’s name in the memo line of the check.
