Jeana Burrus Death — Investigators were able to determine the identity of the skeletal remains that were found in Sarasota in 2007, even though the discovery took place 16 years ago. The woman, who has been identified as Jeana Burrus, and her husband, James Burrus, are the subjects of an active investigation by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, according to a statement made by the agency.
According to the investigators, the skeletal remains were discovered on February 6, 2007, in a small burial in the woods off of Ashton Court in Sarasota. The location was off of Ashton Court. However, the investigation came to a standstill until November 2022, when the authorities, in collaboration with DNA Labs International Inc., used the most recent developments in genetic genecology and DNA testing in order to identify the remains.
Jeana Lynn Burrus, who was 39 years old at the time of her death, has been identified as the person who passed away, according to officials with the SCSO. According to the statements made by the deputies, she resided in the 6200 block of Pauline Avenue in Sarasota with both her husband and her son, James Burrus Jr. Because Jeana Burrus’s family never reported her missing, the investigation into her death was made more difficult by the South Carolina State Crime Office (SCSO).
According to a woman who now rents in the house where the family used to live, authorities conducted a search of the property a few months ago but found nothing suspicious. Although Jeana Burrus did not have a job, her husband was employed at a local auto body business located in the 5600 block of Sarah Avenue, and her kid went to Gulf Gate Elementary School between 2005 and 2006. The new management at the auto body company where her husband worked stated that deputies examined the property a few months ago and didn’t find anything suspicious or illegal on the premises.
According to the authorities, the couple resided in both Citrus County and Frederick, Maryland prior to relocating to Sarasota County in Florida. There were several attempts made by FOX 13 to get in touch with James Burrus, but none of the calls were answered. Anyone who may have known Jeana or James Burrus or who may have information about her death is asked to contact SCSO Detective Brian Ng at (941) 861-4900. Jeana’s family is also asking anyone who may have information about her death to contact him.
