State police looking for driver involved in hit-and-run that killed pedestrian on Route 2 in Preston

A pedestrian seriously injured in a hit-and-run on Route 2 in Preston on Monday night has died, state police said Wednesday.

Connecticut State Police identified the victim as 57-year-old Robert Edwin Mcglothin of Norwich.

Mcglothin was found seriously injured when troopers responded to Route 2 at 9:25 p.m. on the report of a car versus pedestrian crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver who was involved took off from the scene and was believed to be driving a BMW X series vehicle made between 2019 and 2025, according to state police. The vehicle is believed to possibly have damage to its front end or undercarriage, state police said.

As of Wednesday, state police said they had still not identified the driver.

The crash remains under investigation by the Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
