PERRY COUNTY, PA – Tragedy struck late last Friday night near Newport, as authorities confirmed the identity of a motorcyclist who died in a single-vehicle accident. The victim has been identified as Christopher Tomlinson, 44, of Duncannon, who tragically lost his life in a crash that occurred on Keystone Way (PA-34) at the intersection with Pine Grove Road in Centre Township.
According to the Perry County Coroner, Tomlinson died from blunt-force trauma. The accident, which took place around 11 p.m., was ruled an accident following initial investigations. Pennsylvania State Police at Newport report that Tomlinson was riding a 2015 Harley-Davidson northbound on Keystone Way when he unexpectedly veered off the road. He subsequently lost control of the motorcycle, resulting in a severe impact that ejected him from the bike.
Emergency personnel responded swiftly to the scene. Despite their efforts, Tomlinson succumbed to his injuries in the ambulance shortly afterward. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident, and no additional injuries were reported.
Tomlinson’s sudden passing has left the Duncannon community mourning the loss of a man remembered for his passion for motorcycles. The Pennsylvania State Police are expected to continue their review of the accident to determine if other factors may have contributed to the crash.
Motorcyclists and drivers alike are reminded to exercise extra caution on the roads, especially as the changing seasons can affect visibility and road conditions. Tomlinson’s passing marks a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the enduring vulnerability of motorcyclists on Pennsylvania’s highways.
