Amy Samson Obituary, Oregon Death: The Eugene, Oregon community is mourning the tragic death of a renowned young teacher who passed away in an early-hour crash this morning. Ms Amy Samson died in a vehicle accident on her way to school on Tuesday morning,
Amy Samson was a fourth-grade teacher at Eugene Online Academy and a respected North Eugene High School art educator. Amy won the Eugene School District 4J’s Excellence in Education award grant in February.
According to her profile, she was nominated and awarded the Eugene Education Foundation Annual Grant for Reinventing the Guild Model for Ceramics at NEHS for the 2023-24 school year.
The NEHS community has asked for prayers on behalf of Ms Samson’s family, friends, community, and students. Amy graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University, and is a Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society member.
A grieving community member and NEHS parent, Kai Weybright wrote; “Please pray for my daughter and all the NEHS students who were blessed to experience the positive impact of Ms. Amy Samson’s gift as an Art educator.
She was tragically taken in an automobile accident en route to the high school this morning. Please also include all of Ms. Samson’s family and friends as well, who are having to process this horrific and unexpected event.

According to a statement released by the ACE AWARDS, Ms, Amy’s nominator described her as a kind teacher who made time for every one of her students. “Even with being online, Ms. Samson takes the time to care for each child’s needs.
She will stay with my daughter after Zoom class and speak to her privately about her concerns or even just to chat one-on-one. Ms. Samson has such a strong bond with her students even though they have never met in person. My daughter loves it!” 4jschools’s statement reads.
