In 2025, Mercedes takes the flagship G-Wagon electric, and the G580 EQ is born.

As a long-time lover of the boxy-exterior styling of the modern day SUV, Mercedes continues to ride on the long-lasting reins of the G-Wagon. Similar to the Land Rover Defender and entry-level SUV such as the Honda Element and Dodge Nitro, the boxy exterior shape still has a great demand in the SUV market today.

In Grasso’s Garage, the G-Wagon is a huge want given its off-roading ability, styling and history of exceptional reliability; the G-Wagon earns all the accolades.

With the G-Wagon going electric in 2025, we recognize the new G-Wagon nameplate as the G580, confirming its amount of horsepower as 579. As torquey as can be, and over 850 lb.-ft of it, the G580 is a dream luxury cruiser that has no problem pinning you to the seat and getting out of the way quickly and smoothly.

As you float in this almost 7,000 lb. tank on wheels, the appeal and interior is what continues to ensure the MB is at the height of its game. Standard interior options on the G580 include Burmester 3D surround sound audio, comfort package, keyless start, multicolor ambient lighting and power sunroof, while all-wheel drive, low range gearbox, torque vectoring and a 200 kW DC fast charging system is also standard. Upgrades on our G580 tester were a dark blue nonmetallic exterior paint, black panel radiator grille, black logo package, leather grab handles, night package and an interior plus package. To say that the G580 is luxury on wheels and in style is an understatement.

Packed with a $161K base price, the G580 is a dream on wheels. Its electric engine delivers nicely for those local travelers looking to make a statement while enjoying their everyday ride around town. It has great interior comfort, storage space and that long history of great exterior appeal.
