Harold Freeman Obituary, Death Cause – On August 1, 2023, Harold Freeman, 65, died away quietly at the Johnson City Medical Center while surrounded by loved ones. A son of Fred and Sylvia Worley Freeman, he was born on April 11, 1958.
He graduated from Madison High School in 1976 and was a student there. He has lived in Buncombe County all of his life, but he and his son most recently lived in Greeneville, Tennessee. He spent more than seven years as a young man working on a dairy farm with one of his closest friends. He subsequently pursued his longstanding interest and desire of becoming a truck driver. He continued in that line of work for over 30 years.
Together with Pistol, his cherished Texas Heeler co-pilot, he liked nothing more than moving animals, which was one of his favorite aspects of driving. His sons helped him create many priceless memories, both on and off the road.
He cherished traveling and admiring God’s exquisite creation. He was a big fan of hearty rural fare, particularly cornbread and soup beans. He was fortunate to have two in-law daughters who were always ready to provide a helping hand, cook him a tasty supper, and enjoy his company and his anecdotes from the past. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
His parents, grandparents, and a sizable number of aunts, uncles, and cousins all died before him. Two sons, James Freeman and his wife Teresa of Greeneville, TN, and Mike Freeman and his wife Christy, all of Alexander, NC, as well as his Red Heeler, Wrangler, are left to treasure his memory.
The Reverend Paul Sluder will preside over the funeral service on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Madison Funeral Services at 1 pm. The Chestnut Grove Cemetery will then be the site of the burial. Prior to the service, the family will host friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00.
