Mary was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family and friends, touching the lives of many over her long and full life. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
Born and raised in Bartow County, Mary dedicated her life to her family and her career in education. For 25 years, she served as a teacher in the Bartow County School System, where she helped shape the minds and futures of countless young people. Known for her patience and wisdom, Mary’s impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom. She instilled in her students not only knowledge but also the values of compassion, perseverance, and kindness—qualities that she lived by daily.
Mary was a devout member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where her faith in God was a guiding light throughout her life. She was a pillar of the church community, offering her time and talents to support various ministries and uplift those in need. Whether organizing events or lending a listening ear, Mary’s presence was a source of comfort and strength for those around her.
At home, Mary was the heart of the Pritchett family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Jerry Pritchett, with whom she shared many happy years. Together, they built a strong foundation of love and support for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary’s family meant everything to her, and she took great pride in watching them grow, always offering wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by several cherished family members, including her daughter, Rachel McAlister, and her grandson, Jeremy Pritchett, who held special places in her heart. She also mourned the loss of her parents, Lucille Simons White and Edwin Beatty White, and her brothers, Festus and Sonny White. Additionally, Mary was deeply loved by her in-laws, Ralph and Louis Pritchett, whose memory she cherished throughout her life.
Despite the pain of loss, Mary found comfort in the enduring love of her surviving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Pritchett; her children, Keith and Rhonda Pritchett, Jerry Jr. and Laura Pritchett, and Rodney McAlister, all of whom will carry on her legacy of compassion and strength. Mary’s life was also enriched by the presence of her ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She was a beloved matriarch, whose love and guidance will continue to shape her family for generations to come.
In addition to her immediate family, Mary leaves behind several nieces and nephews who admired her deeply. She was a friend to many in the Cartersville community, known for her kindness, hospitality, and unwavering support for those in need. Her neighbors, friends, and fellow church members will miss her warm smile and the selfless spirit that defined her life.
The Pritchett family will receive friends and loved ones at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to honor Mary’s life and legacy. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jerry Pritchett and Pastor Bobby Green will lead the service, celebrating Mary’s faith and the profound impact she had on those around her.
Following the service, Mary will be laid to rest at Center Valley Cemetery, where her family will gather to say their final goodbyes and honor the life of a woman whose love knew no bounds.
