George Baldock Death, Former Sheffield United defender found dead in pool: Baldock’s body was discovered in the swimming pool of his home in Glyfada, which is located in the southern part of Athens, according to reports from Greece.
In the match between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos that took place on Sunday, the defender, who was not selected for the Greece squad that will compete against England in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday, participated for Panathinaikos.
A statement issued by the Super League of Greece stated: “The entire Super League football family expresses its deep sorrow for the untimely loss of Panathinaikos and our national team footballer, George Baldock, and extends its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Sheffield United has issued a statement in which they express their “shocked and extremely saddened” response to the news of Baldock’s departure.
“The defender left the club in the summer after seven years at Bramall Lane and was extremely popular with supporters, staff, and teammates who pulled on a red and white shirt alongside him,” the Blades stated. “He had been a member of the club for seven years.”
“The sincere condolences of everyone associated with Sheffield United are extended to George’s family and friends.”
