The Canada Border Services Agency website states that the Ambassador Bridge border crossing was “temporally closed” for some period of time. Monday afternoon first responders were summoned to the bridge. Between Windsor and Detroit, traffic is backed in both directions.
From the American side, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website shows open lanes but with wait. Chief Steve LaForet of Windsor Fire and Rescue said they were summoned to the bridge at almost 3:30 p.m. Monday following a bridge railing incident.
Chief LaForet reported that the victim dropped roughly fifteen feet onto a metal deck beneath the road. The individual was saved by their urban search and rescue team; they were raised back onto the bridge and delivered to Essex-Windsor EMS, where paramedics were waiting.
What Happened At Ambassador Bridge
He is unsure of the circumstances surrounding the person’s fall from the bridge or their medical state once under EWEMS’ custody. Additionally contacted by TV News are Windsor police as well as the Ambassador Bridge. The Canada Border Services Agency declared that the incident is under control; lanes are open and more lanes will be opened to clear the traffic queue.
