Accident On 69 Today, Motorcyclist dead after crash on I-69 in northern Allen County: Following several collisions on Interstate 69 west of Fort Wayne, one of which was tragic, traffic was slowed down on Monday afternoon. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department received a call about 3 p.m. regarding a motorbike accident that occurred in the northbound lanes close to the 319 mile marker. Following the collision, the woman riding the motorbike was pronounced deceased, according to sheriff’s department Sgt. Adam Griffith.
According to Griffith, a tire from a semi-truck that was in a southbound lane fell off and entered the northbound lanes via a grassy median, ultimately causing the motorcycle to crash. The specifics are being ascertained by investigators. In a second collision, three persons were sent to the hospital with critical injuries when several cars crashed around the 317 mile marker, according to the police.
Two miles north of Fort Wayne, close to Union Chapel Road, the northbound lanes were closed, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. Up until roughly 6:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office issued an alert cautioning cars to stay away from the area.
