Following a two-vehicle crash on Oak Grove Church Road, north of Mill Hill Road, a deadly accident in Franklin County on Saturday, October 5 claimed the life of a Salem resident. Reports from Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol state that Meramec Ambulance workers declared Jody A. Pierce, 41, deceased at the site at 4:57 p.m.; her next of kin was later notified.
According to Troop C’s crash report, Pierce was headed northbound in a 1999 Ford at about 4:38 p.m., when the car drifted off the right side of the road before straightening back on the road. At this point, a northbound 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by 45-year-old Donald A.
Pierce of Union impacted the back right corner of the Ford. The hit sent the Ford across the centerline, off the left side of the road, and started overturning. The car then struck with a tree, then carried down an embankment and came to rest on its roof in a river.
During the response to this sad event, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Union Police Department helped the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Authorities are requesting anyone with further information to come forward as the inquiry on the events surrounding the crash carries on.
