On Wednesday night, October 2, 2024, near Rhome, a two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a Bridgeport resident.
The collision occurred on U.S. 81/287 close to Rhome’s north city boundaries, and 52-year-old Allison Beamon was pronounced deceased at the site.
According to a preliminary investigation conducted by Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Tony De La Cerda, Beamon was traveling south in a 2010 Kia Soul at 8:28 p.m. when the car veered off the road, crossed the median, and collided with a 2011 Toyota Tundra being driven by Decatur resident Timothy Wallace, 55. Beamon was thrown from the car.
According to De La Cerda, Wallace was sent to Medical City Decatur with non-life-threatening wounds.
The road was closed for several hours while emergency personnel attempted to clear the area of the collision.
He clarified that no further details are available and that the inquiry is still ongoing.
