Barbara Ross Obituary, Death Cause – On July 29, 2023, Mrs. Barbara Peercy Ross, a valued educator and compassionate soul, died. Barbara died quietly at 75, leaving a legacy of love, generosity, and knowledge. Her parents, Robert and Ernest Bell Peercy, raised her in Monticello, Kentucky, on November 10, 1947.
Barbara’s love for education made her a respected teacher who touched many lives. At Madison Central High School, she inspired pupils to explore the world through language and literature. As a Spanish instructor at Eastern Kentucky University, she had a lasting influence on her students.
Barbara loved her family more than her career. Her loving spouse, Raymond, survived her. Together, they made a loving home. Barbara loved her stepchildren, Paula Ross Cornelison and Rodney Ross, and her daughter, Whitney Hale, was her pride and delight. Barbara’s siblings, Betty Givans, Robert “Bob” Peercy, and Larry Peercy, were her best pals. Despite life’s hardships, they stayed close. Barbara’s maternal personality touched the hearts of her step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed her nieces and nephews, creating enduring memories and rituals. Barbara’s death ends an era, since her sister Virginia Congleton and brother Paul Peercy preceding her. Their loved ones will remember them forever.
In honor of Barbara’s life, the family will arrange a private service at a later date. The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home will honor Barbara with respect and dignity.
