There was just one car—a white van was in the road, and a blue sportscar was in the ditch.
According to Wilhite, one of the cars included two SPD officers. While the other person was brought to the hospital with potentially fatal injuries, Matthew Rhoden passed away at the spot.
A comparison of his fingerprints allowed for a definite identification.
It is not thought that the white van’s driver is hurt.
Twelve police cars, the Louisiana State Police, and the Shreveport Fire Department are all present at the scene.
Wilhite urged everyone to offer prayers for the police and our department.
The Shreveport Police Department is still looking into the wreck.
They requested an autopsy.
