During a school excursion on Thursday, the 12-year-old child was struck by a falling tree, which resulted in his death.
The victim was a member of the group of pupils who were going to spend the night at the Howell Nature Center at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in Northville.
The youngster was struck in the head by either a portion of the tree or the entire tree, according to Livingston County Sheriff Michael Murphy; however, as of 6 p.m., specifics remained unknown. As to the sheriff’s office, the boy passed away approximately at 9:00 p.m.
For treatment, the boy was flown to the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor.
Murphy claims that when the students were trying to start a fire while gathered with chaperons, they heard crackling and seen the tree or a portion of the tree falling. All of them, but for the boy, managed to move aside.
Parents were arriving at the scene early to pick up their kids, according to FOX 2.
According to sources, the tragedy was not caused by strong winds or work being done on the tree
