Frankfort, IL – The Frankfort community mourns the unexpected death of Dr. Therese M. Jackson, a beloved educator, community leader and family woman, who died on September 23, 2024. Dr. Jackson is survived by her husband, John, and both the children, LJ and Midori, who now face unimaginable grief. In an outpouring of love and support, the community has rallied around the family with one GoFundMe campaign created by Aaron Stuckey.
“Hello, on behalf of Dr. Therese M. Jackson’s family and close community of friends, we are raising funds to support her husband and their two beautiful children,” Stuckey wrote on the fundraiser page. As of this writing, the GoFundMe campaign has raised $44,030 of its $60,000 goal through 322 donations.
Stuckey expressed the deep loss felt by those who knew and loved Dr. Jackson. “Therese was an inspiration to all with how she lived her life. She was a person who loved her family and cared for others with all of her being… She was an amazing community leader, teacher and builder.”
Dr. Jackson, an educator by profession, had dedicated her life to serving children with challenges, ensuring that every child she met had a voice and a place in the world. Her impact on the community, especially in her role as an advocate for the mental, physical and emotional well-being of children, cannot be overstated. Many took to social media and the fundraiser page to share their personal stories of how Dr. Jackson touched their lives.
One donor shared, “It’s heartbreaking to see Dr. Therese M. Jackson’s family going through such a difficult time after her death. She made a huge impact on so many lives and now her husband John and their children, LJ and Midori, need our help.”
Stuckey, echoing the sentiment of many, emphasized how much the family of Dr. Jackson about her and how her legacy of love will last. “She gave us her life and we ask that you give her family your support.”
Funds raised will go towards funeral expenses, arrangements and providing resources for the family during this painful time. The GoFundMe page has also become a place for community members to express condolences and share memories of Dr. Jackson.
On the evening of September 24, a candlelight vigil was held in Dr. Jackson’s honor at 10926 Pembrook Ct., Frankfort. Over 250 candles were distributed, with attendees bringing their own to ensure everyone could join in celebrating her life.
“This is more than a fundraiser,” Stuckey added. “It is a community effort to support one of our families in their time of need. Your participation… shows a heartwarming community spirit that we value so much.”
