According to a press release from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department, an investigation is underway into a deadly accident that happened on Friday morning, September 20.
Deputies from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department and emergency medical services were sent to the vicinity of CTH X and Louis Corners Road in the Township of Schleswig at 4:54 a.m. in response to a report of a head-on accident involving two vehicles, according to the press release issued by Sheriff Dan Hartwig.
According to Hartwig, the preliminary inquiry showed that a 72-year-old man from Kiel was driving a 2018 Ford Focus when it collided with an 18-year-old Malone male driving an eastbound 2004 Volkswagen Jetta on CTH X.
The news goes on to say that the 18-year-old was taken by ThedaStar to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah for significant, life-threatening injuries, and that the 72-year-old man was declared dead at the site.
According to Hartwig’s statement, the Wisconsin State Patrol is supporting the collision reconstruction effort. He adds that no new information will be shared at this time and that the inquiry is still ongoing. In the name of the sheriff’s office, he also extends his sincere condolences to everyone impacted by the situation.
