On September 10th, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Clarksville Police Department responded to a distressing situation in the Ash Ridge Drive area, where they discovered an 18-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Carlos Wills from Lebanon, TN, was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Nashville. Despite the efforts to save him, Carlos Wills was placed on life support and, tragically, succumbed to his injuries.
Carlos Wills’s death has been confirmed, and the next of kin notifications have been completed. The Clarksville Police Department and the community are deeply affected by this loss, and our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
In response to the incident, the Clarksville Police Department has mobilized a comprehensive investigation effort. Detectives from District 1 Criminal Investigations, CPD’s Intelligence Unit, and the Special Operations Homicide Unit have been working around the clock to piece together the events leading up to and following the shooting. Their diligent investigation has led to the identification of a suspect, 20-year-old Za’Kwon Jaterrion Holliday of Clarksville.
A Homicide warrant was swiftly secured for Holliday’s arrest. In a collaborative operation, agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, alongside detectives from the Metro/Nashville Police Department, executed a traffic stop in Nashville later that evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. Za’Kwon Holliday was apprehended without incident and taken into custody.
The Clarksville Police Department has emphasized that this incident appears to be isolated. At no point did law enforcement believe there was an ongoing threat to the broader public. The quick response and coordinated efforts between various law enforcement agencies have been crucial in resolving this case.
As part of the ongoing investigation, CPD detectives are seeking assistance from the public regarding 19-year-old Davontay Tyrek Spencer of Clarksville. Spencer was present at the scene of the shooting, and authorities are interested in speaking with him to gather further information. Anyone with knowledge of Davontay Spencer’s whereabouts or any additional information related to the case is urged to contact the Clarksville Police Department as soon as possible.
