Austin Lee, 16, a student at Clovis East High School, was killed in a devastating accident in east-central Fresno, leaving the local community in mourning.
The fatal crash happened just after 4pm Tuesday at the intersection of Fowler and Tulare avenues. According to authorities, Austin Lee was riding his motorcycle when he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a car that was turning onto Fowler. As a result of the collision, Lee was thrown from the motorcycle.
Paramedics took him to hospital, but despite efforts to save him, Austin Ly tragically died from his injuries. Fresno Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The Clovis Unified School District, which was hit hard by the loss of one of its students, confirmed that Lee was a member of the Clovis East High School community.
In response to the tragedy, the school district has taken steps to provide additional support to students and staff, offering additional counseling resources on campus to help those dealing with the loss.
