Hermine Kazanjian Death: Fresno, California—We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Hermine Kazanjian, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to several. On September 7, 2024, Hermine passed away, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, faith, and affection. Hermine, the daughter of Hagop Sarafian and Serpouhi, was born in Achrafieh, Lebanon, on February 21, 1935. She was renowned for her daily commitment to reading the Bible and praying for those she loved, as her Christian faith was a fundamental aspect of her life.
Hermine lost her spouse, Nazar Kazanjian, shortly after they arrived in Fresno in December 1983. This event devastated her. In spite of the loss, she demonstrated extraordinary fortitude by dedicating her life to providing for her family. Hermine’s career as a seamstress was both successful and enduring, spanning a variety of department stores. Her life was characterised by a steadfast dedication to the welfare of those in her vicinity and the act of sacrifice. Hermine’s presence brought pleasure and tenderness to those who were privileged enough to know her, whether through her delight of storytelling, her love of preparing traditional Armenian meals, or her desire to share music with her family.
She is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, and extended family, who will always cherish her radiant smile, compassion, and generosity. Kristina Kordoghlanian has organised a fundraiser in honour of Hermine to provide assistance to families in Lebanon, a cause that was particularly meaningful to her. Although she was unable to return to her homeland, her aspiration was always to provide aid to those who were in need. The fundraiser aims to raise $500, with all proceeds being donated to families in Lebanon. The family and community are left with a profound vacancy in their souls as a result of Hermine’s departure. May her memory be a source of blessing, and may her spirit continue to thrive through the acts of compassion she motivated. Hermine Kazanjian’s family is in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging period. We offer our prayers for the strength and solace that her loved ones will need as they adjust to their loss.
