Donnell Floyd Jr., son of go-go music legend Donnell Floyd Sr., has died in a motorcycle accident.
Junior died on Tuesday, September 10, according to devastated friend Tony Tee, who said he had died “having fun doing what he loved” the majority.
According to LinkedIn, Donnell Floyd Jr. worked on the Cable Team at General Dynamics Information Technology and was a known motorcycle enthusiast.
Photos of him wearing the gear on the bike and looking excited are plastered all over his social media.
After news of his death, friends and colleagues took to social media to pay tribute.
“Man he took me under his wing when I got my bike bro. It crushed me.” read one comment under Tony Tee’s post.
Donnell Floyd Jr. was born to Donnell Sr. and Jennifer Floyd. Donnell Sr. is a well-known go-go cult star who has performed with Rare Essence and Team Familiar, among others. He retired in 2019 with a farewell concert that he performed an appearance by Stevie Wonder!
He was married to Christiana Floyd and they just celebrated their first wedding anniversary a couple of months ago. The youngest had one child, a daughter.
Distraught friends took to Mrs Floyd’s page to mourn after news of her husband’s death.

The Floyds have yet to publicly respond to the news of Donnell Jr.’s death. Information about his funeral and memorial will be provided as soon as it is available.
