According to surveillance camera footage, the 41-year-old was observed by authorities entering his barbershop at approximately 11 p.m. while dragging a “large piece of raw timber with a reluctant Chance following behind him.” “Love is accused of striking the first-grade student with a piece of lumber, followed by the application of hydrogen peroxide to the open wounds. The boy was then compelled to perform push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks,” the release alleged.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 30, Love is accused of transporting Chance to the emergency room at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County after he collapsed, rather than calling 911 for assistance. As per the prosecution, Love was responsible for the boy’s care while the boy’s mother was employed as a nurse’s assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital during the night. Love allegedly became aggressive with the boy after the latter allegedly urinated in his trousers at a nearby park, according to a press release from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
