Chance Crawford Death – The horrific incident occurred on August 29th, 2024, when the victim, Chance Crawford, was dropped off at Ernest Lamar Love’s barbershop in Placentia.
Surveillance footage captured Love entering his barbershop at approximately 11 p.m., dragging a large piece of raw lumber while a reluctant Chance followed behind. According to prosecutors, Love proceeded to beat the young boy with the piece of lumber, then poured hydrogen peroxide on the open wounds before forcing him to perform physical exercises.
When Chance collapsed, Love allegedly took him to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County emergency room at around 1:30 a.m. on August 30th, instead of calling 911 for immediate assistance. The boy tragically passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office alleges that Love became enraged with Chance after the boy urinated in his trousers at a nearby park. The 41-year-old was entrusted with watching Chance while the boy’s mother was working as a nurse’s helper at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The charges against Love reflect the severity of the alleged crimes, which involved acts of extreme violence and cruelty against a young and defenseless child.
