Piedmont motorcycle crash on U.S. 279
48-year-old Marcus T. Raney Jr. from Piedmont was the motorcyclist that passed away in the crash. According to Trooper Cp. Reginal King, the collision took place at 6:52 in the evening on U.S. 279, a little less than one mile west of Piedmont in Calhoun County. Raney was operating a Harley Davidson from 2011 when he collided with a Nissan Frontier driven by Hannah Bagwell, who was also from Piedmont and was 28 years old.
Marcus T. Raney Jr., who lived in Piedmont and was 48 years old, was a well-known and well-liked member of the community. Many people in the area looked up to him. He was a passionate motorcyclist who loved nothing more than hitting the open road on his adored 2011 Harley Davidson motorbike.
He was well-liked for his cheerful personality and warm grin, and he was well-known for both. He participated enthusiastically in many different community activities and was always willing to offer assistance to those who were struggling. All of the people who knew him will be left with a profound sense of emptiness due to the passing of someone who was so full of life and compassion.
