Likeke Ricardo Ibale Death: The community of Honolulu is in mourning following the unexpected passing of Likeke Ricardo Ibale, who was set to assume the distinguished role of Equestrian Marshal at the 2024 Aloha Festivals Floral Parade. Likeke, affectionately known as “palala” and “braddah” by his friends and family, passed away just days ago, leaving behind a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Likeke was eagerly looking forward to leading the parade from Ala Moana Beach Park to Kapiʻolani Park, a role that filled him with both honor and excitement. It was a position that would have seen him riding at the forefront of one of Honolulu’s most cherished cultural celebrations, guiding the equestrian procession with pride and aloha.
However, as his loved ones have shared, Ke Akua (God) called him home, where his late parents, who passed away years ago, were waiting to embrace him with open arms. In the wake of Likeke’s passing, the community has rallied to support his family during this difficult time. A fundraiser organized by Wahine Holo Lio has been set up to help cover the costs of Likeke’s funeral and a memorable pāʻīna (feast) in his honor. Titled “In Loving Honor and Memory of LIKEKE (RICARDO) IBALE,” the fundraiser has so far raised $1,125 out of a $15,000 goal, with contributions coming in from friends, family, and community members who were touched by Likeke’s life.
Among the many supporters, AnaLisa Hennessey donated $100, while Leilani Kūpahu-Marino Kahoʻāno contributed $200, reflecting the widespread love and respect for Likeke. On Facebook, tributes and memories of Likeke have been pouring in, with friends expressing their sorrow and gratitude for having known him. Terry-Lin Branco wrote, “A hui hou so happy I got to spend a lito bit of time and space with you when I came home in April, Fly high brother.” Another friend, Klunx Ah Lee Sam, expressed his thanks, saying, “Thank you Aunty. Every bit of donation and sharing helps. Love you and Keep safe over there!!!”
Likeke was known for his joyful spirit, infectious laughter, and the deep love he shared with everyone around him. He was a man who embodied the true essence of aloha, always ready with a smile or a helping hand. Whether he was preparing to lead a grand parade or simply spending time with friends and family, Likeke brought warmth and kindness to every interaction. As the community continues to mourn his loss, they are also coming together to ensure that Likeke receives the beautiful send-off he deserves. The fundraiser aims to provide the means for a funeral and pāʻīna that will celebrate Likeke’s life in a way that reflects the joy and aloha he spread during his time on earth. It is hoped that the community’s support will help ease the financial burden on his family and allow them to focus on honoring Likeke’s memory.
For those who wish to contribute, donations can be made through the GoFundMe page organized by Wahine Holo Lio. The outpouring of love and support from the community has been overwhelming, and every contribution helps to ensure that Likeke is laid to rest with the dignity and respect he so richly deserves. In this time of loss, the community of Honolulu is reminded of the deep connections they share and the importance of coming together to support one another. Likeke Ricardo Ibale may have left this world, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. As they continue to grieve, they also celebrate the life of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness, laughter, and unwavering aloha.
