Mike Aurand Drowning: It is known who the individual who was discovered dead at Barren River Lake is.
According to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Public Information Officer Cody Fox, the victim has been identified as Mike Aurand, a resident of Glasgow.
Garland Gilliam, the director of Glasgow/Barren County Emergency Management, reported that Aurand’s body was discovered in the lake on Monday morning at around ten in the morning.
Fox stated that even if there is no suspicion of foul play, the coroner’s office will verify the cause of death. Aurand was swimming without a life jacket, he continued.
Following Aurand’s disappearance on Sunday night close to Gilligan’s Island, Glasgow/Barren County Emergency Management launched a search. Aurand did not emerge from the ocean.
Authorities said on Facebook that they had contacted Aurand’s friends and colleagues and had spent hours searching until it got too dark.
Public safety officials issued an advisory to avoid the region while rescue teams, with divers and a variety of sonar equipment, started their search on Monday morning.
The Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, disaster management staff, rescue teams, and sheriff units from Barren, Hart, and Allen Counties were among the other emergency responders on the scene.
Public Information Officer Cody Fox of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife stated that the agency was looking into a possible drowning on Barren River Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
